How God Saved A Pagan King – Part 2

Nebuchadnezzar of Part 1
Chapter one, Nebuchadnezzar learns Yahweh’s ways are far more superior.
Chapter two, Nebuchadnezzar learns Yahweh’s wisdom is infinite.

We continue with Part 2
Chapter three, Nebuchadnezzar learns that He, Yahweh God, was able to deliver Daniel’s three friends out of his hands.
Chapter four, Nebuchadnezzar learns that it is only Yahweh God Who gave him the kingdom.

3/God was able to deliver Daniel’s three friends out of his, Nebuchadnezzar’s hands.

The three friends of Daniel, Shadrach (=Hanaiah), Meshach,(=Mishael), and Abednego (=Azaria) did in no way intend to bow down for any statue made out of stone or wood and covered with gold. They must have remembered what God said about graven images.

Daniel 3_16KJB.png

Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

The king flew into a rage when the Chaldeans reported to the king that the three men of Judah did not bow for the golden statue he had put up.

Daniel 3:13 Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.

After Daniel explained the dream to Nebuchadnezzar of the statue with the golden head, the king favored not only Daniel but his three friends as well. The king set the three young men over the affairs of Babylon. The Chaldeans must not have liked that, and this was the way to get back at them.

Daniel 3:12 There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Nebuchadnezzar was convinced that Yahweh God could not free Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednegoout of his hands.

Daniel 3:15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

It was for the three friends of Daniel, come what may, they were not going to worship the golden statue. The threesome knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that Yahweh God would deliver them out of the hands of the king, one way or another. The only thing was, they did not know how it would happen.

Daniel 3:17,18  If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Nebuchadnezzar flew into a rage and his demand was the furnace had to be heated seven times hotter. The king was convinced that Yahweh God could not free Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednegoout of his hands.

Daniel 3:19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

But then Nebuchadnezzar saw to his astonishment that there was a Fourth Person in the fiery furnace. Yahweh God is teaching Nebuchadnezzar the third lesson. And that Person he, Nebuchadnezzar, recognized could only be Yahshua Christ, the God of Shadrach, Mesach, and Abednego.

Daniel 3:24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.

Daniel 3_24-25KJB.png

Yahshua Christ was the fourth Person Who took the three friends of Daniel into the fourth dimension. The threesome came out of the fiery furnace without even the slightest burn. There was neither smell nor smoke on them.

Daniel 3:27 And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.

  • A fulfilling of a prophecy in  Isaiah 43:2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

4/Nebuchadnezzar learns that it is only God Who has given him the Kingdom.

Chapter four is an epistle of Nebuchadnezzar to all of his subjects, conveying that the God of Daniel is the only God Who must be served.

Daniel 4:1 Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

In the opening words, the words “peace be multiplied unto you” bring us to the two Epistles of the apostle Peter. And here we also see that Nebuchadnezzar is put into his place by God.

  • 1Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
  • 2Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

As his so-called wise men failed before, it is by Yahweh God that Daniel can explain the interpretation of the dream. And as in the time before, Daniel did not take any credit for the interpretation of the dream.

The king turned into a beast and the times lasted seven times. It could have been only seven days, but the times also could have lasted as long as seven years. But again, the Bible does not mention an exact time.

Daniel 4:22 It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.23 And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him; 24 This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king: 25 That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

After twelve months, the dream came true. By a watcher, Yahweh God let Nebuchadnezzar know He, the Most High had taken away his kingdom.

Daniel 4:29-31  At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.  30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?  31 While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

Then after the seven times, Nebuchadnezzar lifted his eyes to heaven. His heart and his mind returned and, he came human again. Nebuchadnezzar praised the Most High.

Daniel 4:34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

Nebuchadnezzar now knew that it is Yahweh God Who can do whatever He pleases to do.

Daniel 4:35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

Nebuchadnezzar now knew that it is Yahweh God Who gave him the power to rule over the kingdom.

Daniel 4:36 At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

Nebuchadnezzar is now praising and exalting Yahweh God.

Daniel 4:37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

That is why I believe that Yahweh God saved the pagan king Nebuchadnezzar.

  1. Proud people that abuse those in their control, like right now. The ones that have the Lords protection survive. And atheist come in all shapes and sizes. They are confused. This King was lucky he found truth. This one is one of my favorite. I can see them in that fire. Like some situations I have experienced, the punisher received the benefit of their evil plan. It seems that the longer these bad ones go on the harder they fall. Daniel in the Lion’s den. The trust and confidence saves a person from the stress they can experience, Matthew 11:30 | Read whole chapter
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. There is so many lessons wrapped up in this story. It is a good one to study. Each person, Thank you again Christian soldier. We are few and we have the strongest among us.

    1. Thank you Clark, for both of your responses.

“An atheist comes in all shapes and sizes. They are confused.”
That counts for anyone who does not believe the Bible. They don’t know the LORD. However, I see them also as spiritual drunkards.
Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Drunk in their wrong man-made conclusions because they cannot think straight. Generally speaking, when you are drunk you cannot walk a straight line. they will fall and will not get up.
The world is nothing but confusion, deception, false witnesses, and then some.

Matthew 11:28 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls

Jeremiah 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein”

      1. The response, “we will not walk therein”. Yes that is the ignorance, the blindness. Then comes the drunkenness. The actual hate for the truth. They say no in many ways be it ridicule, a smirk and no reply or worse. I am going to buy a King James 1611 copy. I know they aren’t cheap but I must have one just in case. The price of the real ones $90,000 ,

        1. The story goes that someone in the NIV committee once said that the Bible is like the backside of embroidery, and we have to correct it. What a joke!

  2. There is one thing about the metal Gold. It is not of this planet. Gold, the shiny yellow metal prized for its beauty and malleability and used in many different industries, is actually created inside massive stars when they explode into a supernova. Of course, after a star supernovas and forms gold, the precious metal has to travel to Earth in some way. By studying ancient rock samples with high-precision instruments, scientists have found evidence that accessible gold, or the gold that is technologically and economically feasible to reach on the surface of the planet, arrived via asteroids when the earth was still fairly young. Worshiping gold images, calves etc defies logic. Revelation 9 : 20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues, yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship deuils, and idoles of golde, and siluer, and brasse, and stone, and of wood, which neither can see, nor heare, nor walke:

  3. Another reason I am so attached to King James is my ninth great grandfather. John

By the time John Clarke signed on to pilot the Mayflower on its journey to America, he had already managed a remarkably adventurous career.

Born in 1575 in England, Clarke was an old hand at sailing to America by the time the Mayflower set out. He first came to this country in 1609, transporting goods and colonists to the Virginia colony of Jamestown.

While in Virginia he made himself useful for about 40 days shuttling livestock and other goods around the coast. Then an unfriendly Spanish vessel arrived on the Virginia shore.
    John Clarke

    Spanish Inquisition

The Spanish seized Clarke and took him first to Cuba, then to Spain. He spent roughly seven years facing questioning in Spanish captivity.

Clarke had the bad luck to get captured during the time of the Spanish Inquisition. Spanish authorities wanted to know what the British in general, and Protestants in particular, had planned for the New World.

King James arranged for Clarke’s release, possibly in a ransom/prisoner swap, in 1616. Clarke, unfazed by his experience, set about looking for work as a captain’s mate and pilot. He signed on with Thomas Jones, a pirate and sea captain, to carry livestock to Virginia in 1619. And in 1620 he agreed to serve as pilot on the Mayflower, under ship’s master Christopher Jones. It’s a lucky thing for the Pilgrims that he did.

    1. That is quite a story about your ancestor John Clarke.
And if it hadn’t been for King James, the Spaniards may never have released him.
King James sure cared for his subjects.

Thank you, Clark. And I always appreciate your responses.

    1. Excuse me Clark, I don’t quite understand what here you mean by watchers.
Are you referring to the three friends of Daniel?

      1. The ones in this scripture..23 And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;
