How God Saved A Pagan King – Part 1.

The first four chapters of the Book of Daniel also deal with how the pagan king Nebuchadnezzar was saved.

In Part 1
Chapter one Nebuchadnezzar learns God’s ways are far more superior.
Chapter two Nebuchadnezzar learns God’s wisdom is infinite.

In Part 2
Chapter three Nebuchadnezzar learns that He, God was able to deliver Daniel’s three friends out of his hands.
Chapter four Nebuchadnezzar learns that it is only God Who gave him the kingdom.

Four times, God molded king Nebuchadnezzar. The four Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the four Gospels that bring salvation.

1/ God’s ways are far more superior. And herewith God is laying the groundwork to come to His destiny with the pagan king.

By God’s grace, the prince eunuch favored him and his three friends. So when Daniel seriously asked for him and his three friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah not to have to eat from the king’s table as a trial for ten days. The number ten is a representation of God’s Law and the way He does things.

Daniel did not have the least intention to accept the food that the king’s table was offering, as not to defile himself. For ten days Daniel asks to give them all four pulse to eat and water to drink. After the ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked well-nourished and much healthier than the young men who did eat from the king’s table.

Daniel 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Daniel 1:15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.

At the end of the three years when the young men were introduced to Nebuchadnezzar, the king had to admit that the four young men of the tribe of Judah looked well-fed and much healthier.

Daniel 1:19,20 And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.  20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

2/ God’s wisdom is Infinite.

One night Nebuchadnezzar dreamed a dream. The next morning he did not remember what the dream was about, nonetheless, it worried him a great deal. He called the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans.

Four types of witchcraft; the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, versus the God of Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.

Daniel 2:2 Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

They had to tell the king the dream and the interpretation of the dream. The four Wisemen could not: neither could their gods. And that didn’t look too good for them. Neither for Daniel and his three friends. So they better stop stalling and to come up with the answers or else. How utterly embarrassing for them.

Daniel 2:5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.

The thing is they probably had years of experience to say to the king the right things at the right time. But it seems on this occasion their time was up. Truth is catching up with them.

Daniel 2:8,9 The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me. 9 But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.

Daniel and his friends would pray to God and ask for His grace to reveal to them the dream of Nebuchadnezzar and the interpretation.

Daniel 2:17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions: 18 That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

And through God, Daniel was able to tell the king the dream and interpretation as well. Nebuchadnezzar now knew Who the God of Daniel and his three friends was. God’s wisdom was far greater than the wisdom of the gods of Nebuchadnezzar.

Daniel 2:47 The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

To be continued part 2
Chapter three Nebuchadnezzar learns that He, God was able to deliver Daniel’s three friends out of his hands.
Chapter four Nebuchadnezzar learns that it is only God Who gave him the kingdom.

God saved the pagan King Nebuchadnezzar. The LORD also can save you. Lord Jesus Christ is the Only Way to salvation.
