Luke 10:36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
Luke 10:37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise
If there even was Anyone to serve God and His neighbor it was Him. Him Who was moved with inner compassion. Did not Lord Jesus come to seek and to save those that are lost? To deliver and to heal? To those who fell for the father of lies from the beginning? Didn’t the Saviour fulfill the law of charity?
He did not come by accident, as did the Samaritan in the parable. With great determination, Jesus Christ went His way and He knew what was coming to Him. His own Life was at risk, however, He did not withdraw. Because the Saviour wanted to fulfill the law of charity to perfection. He wanted to be the closest Neighbor to whom was to die because of sin. To be the closest Neighbor that is the way Jesus Christ our great Saviour wants to be merciful. That is what moved Him. For that what is living in the Heart of Father Who sent Him to this world the same was living in the Heart of the Son. That is the mystery of His Life.
The mystery of seeking and redeeming charity. Moved by the mercy of God with which He came to seek those that were lost. When Lord Jesus would not have come to the world mankind who fell for the lie of satan would have been lost. We would have been eternally separated from the LORD. It Mankind cannot redeem his own life. That is not possible.
Who would be able to do so? Who would be willing to do so? Who would have the power to redeem mankind from the throes of death and to put His own life at risk? Who would have had the courage to stand beside the other to hold on to him so close to death? No, there was not anyone so compassionate for the other to lift him
But God sent His only Begotten Son Jesus. The Saviour came to save, to heal and to care. For it was Him Who came to seek and to save the lost. Therefor He went His way, going a path, an unpaved road, that brought Him to an fathomless abyss and mists of time. That’s how deep the road He followed descended. For that is how deep mankind is lost in his gloomiest distress. That is God’s Charity, the Charity that is a complete fulfillment of the law.
Love for those around us. That is to say to help and show compassion to someone when not asked for. To do someone a favor without expecting anything in return. A friendly greeting when someone passes by. Those who are in need of mercy are compassionate to the other.
Lord Jesus Who lived and practiced the love for the neighbor to perfection. Lord Jesus Who humbled Himself becoming equal to mankind in his lamentable need. Who ever did reveal His Charity more deeply than Lord Jesus, Who obeyed the Father till the very end? Lord Jesus proves what love really amounts to.
Mark 10:45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many
By doing so He has fulfilled the Law of Charity to perfection.
By doing so He acquired life eternal. He went in search of the other. He walked His lonesome road in life. His lonesome road in life, a road of humiliation and death when He became next of kin to the fallen man.
By doing so He granted mercy.
By doing so He left us with an example so that we in His power will be able to show compassion for those who are in need.
To be an image of Lord Jesus, so that IN Christ we can walk in love and obedience.
